Context
A payment gateway sits between the products that charge customers and the banks and financial institutions that move the funds. Supernova fulfils that role within the Supernova & ACR ecosystem.

Key challenge: partial failures
Payments travel across networks that can fail midway. The gateway must resolve every attempt into exactly one outcome, paid or not paid, and keep its records consistent with those of the bank. Retries, timeouts and duplicate requests are expected conditions, not exceptions.

Integrations
Each bank and financial service provider has its own protocol and its own failure modes. The objective is to encapsulate those differences behind a single, consistent interface for the products that process payments through the gateway.
